Justice for Walker: Warlpiri responses to the police shooting of Kumunjayi Walker

Abstract The police shooting of Kumunjayi Walker in Yuendumu November 2019 instigated an immediate and determined response from Warlpiri families who were shocked saddened by the death a loved one prime his life enraged this latest event long string colonial injustices. This article collates perspectives as expressed interviews public statements spokespeople have been on frontline fight for Justice Walker. Incorporating initial responses days after shooting, links to Coniston massacre neighbouring country 1928, ongoing horror Aboriginal deaths custody escalating energy behind Black Lives Matter campaigns across world, illustrates, through voices, ways which people expertly used techniques activist their resolute justice Walker, all Australia First Nations world‐wide.
